His last two movies, John Carter and Battleship, were predicted to be box-office smashes, not bombs. So, the former star of Friday Night Lights is hoping his new film, Oliver Stone’s Savages, will be greeted more enthusiastically by audience goers.
Despite the movie’s misfortune, Kitsch says he has “absolutely no regrets” about his film debut, even adding, “I would do John Carter again tomorrow. I’m very proud of John Carter. Box office doesn’t validate me as a person, or as an actor.”
Taylor Kitsch kick-started his career in 2002 when he moved to New York to study with renowned acting coach Sheila Grey. He landed his first major feature film the following year and has worked consistently in film and television ever since.
While John Carter may have performed well below Disney’s expectations during its opening weekend, many fans of the Edgar Rice Burroughs book series singled out Taylor Kitsch for praise for his portrayal of the titular Martian adventurer.
