The film is entertaining enough but given Affleck’s former directing success, we unfortunately (and perhaps mistakenly) expect more.
I’ve always liked Messina as an actor; he can liven up even the tamest scene and now, it looks like he can do the same behind the camera.
While Chris Messina has been busy this season with the coupling of Mindy and Danny on The Mindy Project, there’s one other show fans can still catch him on, The Newsroom. The HBO show is coming back for a third and final season. Messina shared his thoughts to Vulture about
You’ve definitely seen Chris Messina before, even if you don’t recognize his name. In 2012 alone he appeared on film in Argo, Ruby Sparks, The Giant Mechanical Man and Celeste & Jesse Forever and on television in regular roles in The Mindy Project, The Newsroom and Damages. He also stars in Fairhaven, an indie film he also co-wrote and executive produced, which is now in limited release.
Chris Messina can most recently be seen starring in Lee Kirk’s directorial debut, The Giant Mechanical Man, opposite Jenna Fischer, who also produced the film. He also co-wrote and starred in the upcoming Fairhaven, opposite Sarah Paulson. Both films premiered at the 2012 Tribeca Film Fesival to rave reviews.
It would be difficult to go to the movies or turn on the TV right now and not see Chris Messina. He will be in six films by the end of the year, including Ruby Sparks and Celeste and Jesse Forever, and is currently on Damages, The Newsroom, and the upcoming The Mindy Project.
