If you ever tried to drink in the United States before the age of 21, you probably had a fake ID. If you were like my friend Brian, the photo on your fake ID looked nothing like you — after all, he found it on a sidewalk once late at night — but it nonetheless worked (most of the time, anyway). Then one night Brian went to Rudy’s in Hell’s Kitchen, which has a “You Fake It We Take It” policy and that was the last he ever saw of that ID. Not exactly jail time, but it was still embarrassing, especially since I was behind him in the line to get in.
But at least Brian didn’t attempt to use an ID with one of the most famous actors in the world on it. That’s not only stupid, but it seems like it might also lead to a criminal charge.
That’s what a 41-year-old Brazilian man from the city of Recife was arrested for on February 28. The unnamed man tried to open a bank account with an ID featuring the photo of three-time Oscar winner Jack Nicholson.
The report notes that the man — who was arrested for falsifying public documents — doesn’t look anything like the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest star. It also notes that the man in question is denying the charge, which opens up the possibility that he actually thinks he looks like Jack Nicholson.
Now if the man tried to buy beer at a Lakers game with this ID that would’ve at least been funny.
