FOX’s upcoming limited series Wayward Pines looks very cool. The show is supposed to be very Twin Peaks-ish in tone which, just hearing that, definitely sparks my interest.
The pilot was directed by M. Night Shyamalan and stars Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Melissa Leo, Toby Jones, Terrance Howard and Juliette Lewis and is about a Secret Service agent (Dillon) goes to Wayward Pines, Idaho, in search of two federal agents who have gone missing. He soon finds out that that he may never get out of the town alive.
I talked to producers Ashwin Rajan and Donald De Line and writer/creator Chad Hodge at Comic-Con in a roundtable interview where they talked about the show, casting and more.
Some highlights:
- The show is from a book called The Pines by Blake Crouch and the first season is “very true to the book.” says De Line.
- They talk about the cast.
- How did M. Night Shymalan get involved?
- How do they like the 10-episode format?
- When casting people like Melissa Leo and Toby Jones do they beef up their stories at all?
