After the Saturday, August 8 evening performance of Hamlet, Cumberbatch visited fans waiting outside the theater and asked them to spread the word that audience members taking photos and videos of the performances have gotten out of hand.

According to a production spokesperson, shortly before the production began an audience member got out of his seat, went on stage, and plugged his phone into a (non-working) outlet that was part of the production’s set.
“I’m flabbergasted,” he said. “We rehearsed that scene over and over. We thought we had done everything right.”
