It’s easy to feel good for Zachary Levi‘s success. The Chuck and Tangled star has always seemed like a perfect fit to play a superhero. However, before 2019 the closest he came was playing Thor’s Warriors Three ally Fandral in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. However, in 2019 the DC Comics superhero movie Shazam! finally gave Levi the opportunity to play a comedic superhero that he seemed born to portray when he played DC’s Shazam onscreen with childlike enthusiasm.
And even though Levi has a track record of success, he still needed to audition for the role — and as SYFY has revealed, Levi’s first audition was on Skype. It demonstrates his unbridled eagerness to portray the character, and despite not being in the room with him, director David F. Sandberg immediately asked, “Why is this guy not our Shazam?”
