Rose Huntington-Whiteley appears in this week’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon opposite Shia LaBeouf and Josh Duhamel, but there was a time when she thought she had no chance of landing the role of LaBeouf’s character’s new love interest.
“I went to the audition and really I knew nothing about the role,” the 24-year-old model-turned-actress recently told MTV News. “No one had said anything; it was just a role in Transformers, so I kind of thought it would be an extra part or a cameo or something. I went in a bit blind and also, it was my first-ever audition. I went in completely not knowing what I was doing. I left feeling not confident.”
That was before director Michael Bay called her up and said, “Yeah, you’re the girl,” said the British actress.
Prior to Transformers, Huntingon-Whiteley was best-known as a Victoria’s Secret model. For the third installment of the popular film franchise, her Carly Spencer character replaces Megan Fox’s Mikaela Banes as the romantic counterpart of LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky.
“I’ve been so lucky because doing this film, I got to try a little bit of everything,” she continued. “There’s something for everyone in it: there’s the romance, the comedy, the drama, the action, there’s the special effects.”
