Happy birthday, Ian McShane! The Emmy Award-nominated Deadwood star turns 78 years old today. Though the Ray Donovan, John Wick, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and American Gods star doesn’t really look his age. Perhaps that is a result from his long career filled with a variety of roles that has allowed him to perform in many different time periods as a host of memorable characters, including pirates, outlaws, and even Judas Iscariot (and though his characters haven’t all been villains).
Last year, McShane participated in a career retrospective edition of SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations moderated by Dominic Patten of Deadline. For more than an hour, McShane speaks about his career as an actor and his approach to some of his most memorable roles in both film and television.
