Happy birthday, Edward Norton! The Academy Award-nominated actor/producer/director and writer turns 51 years old today.
Norton has been celebrated as an incredibly gifted actor ever since he received an Oscar nomination for his breakthrough role in 1996’s Primal Fear (he has since received two additional nominations for American History X and Birdman). This has come in addition to being labeled as something of a perfectionist in his craft (with some reporting that he’s difficult to work with). Nonetheless, Norton has received praise for his performances and has worked with some of the most prominent filmmakers working today.
Norton filmed this career retrospective Conversations presented by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and moderated by Dave Karger of Turner Classic Movies in late 2019 to promote his film adaptation of Jonathan Lethem’s bestselling novel Motherless Brooklyn. During the conversation, Norton speaks about his career in depth and why he is so dedicated to his craft.
