On December 21, Eddie Murphy will be coming “home” by making his first appearance on Saturday Night Live since hosting the show in December 1984, shortly after leaving the cast. To say Murphy is one of the most successful cast members in SNL is something of an understatement — he became a box office superstar in the 1980s and 1990s and has recently received acclaim for his performance in the Netflix movie Dolemite Is My Name and there is great anticipation in Murphy returning for sequels for two of his most acclaimed roles (Coming 2 America and the recently-announced Beverly Hills Cop 4).
In this career-spanning interview presented by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and moderated by Jenelle Riley of Variety, Murphy reflects on his career as one of the top box-office stars of all time, including his most acclaimed performances and what the future holds for the Oscar and Emmy Award nominated actor.
