Let’s admit it: None of us thought we’d ever use the phrase “Oscar nominee Steve Carell” when we watched Brick Tamland scoop mayonnaise into a toaster in Anchorman. Yet here we are: Carell is the first member of the Channel 4 news team to be nominated for an Oscar. Carell is nominated for his virtually unrecognizable performance as real-life murderer John du Pont in Foxcatcher.
In a ninety minute conversation moderated by Jenelle Riley of Variety presented by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, Carell talks about his entire career as an actor, including his background in improv, how he landed the Michael Scott role on The Office, and, of course, Foxcatcher.
