Few casting directors are widely recognized for their efforts in shaping the direction of the television series or movies that they work on. One of the few who has received recognition for her work is Jennifer Euston, who won two Emmys for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series — first in 2012 for Girls and then again in 2014 for Orange is the New Black as well as her first Emmy for casting 2010’s The Pacific. Though Euston believes there should be a similar award for film in the Oscars, she’s very happy to talk about her work in television.
Shortly before her third Emmy win, Euston was interviewed by Gold Derby Senior Editor Marcus James Dixon about her groundbreaking work on casting Orange is the New Black and why she thinks casting directors deserve more recognition.
