Is Julianne Moore the best actress who has never won an Oscar? Considering her five total Oscar nominations — including this year for her role as a professor who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in Still Alice — she’s definitely in the running for that title. Of course, considering the acclaim she has received for the role already she could win the Oscar and be taken off the “never have won an Oscar” list entirely.
Shortly before Oscar nominations were announced, Moore sat with Mark Peikert of Backstage for a Q&A session presented by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, Backstage, and the New School for Drama. Moore talks about the quick turnaround shooting Still Alice (and makes an awkward “I don’t remember” joke about how long it took to shoot the film), her research of Alzheimer’s patients, and how she didn’t expect that the film would come together on such a small budget.
