Since this website is named Daily Actor, I am sure I don’t have to explain that in addition to playing everyone’s favorite Middle-Earth wizard Gandalf and everyone’s favorite X-Men villain Magneto, Ian McKellen is an accomplished stage actor. He has appeared in numerous Shakespeare productions, including Henry IV, Richard II, Othello, King Lear, and perhaps his most acclaimed stage role, Macbeth. Shortly after portraying Macbeth on stage in the late 1970s, McKellen appeared on a BBC program to analyze the play’s most famous soliloquy, “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow.”
Hearing an actor of McKellen’s caliber speak about what these words mean to him and how that informed his performance is remarkable. Check out the clip below!
