Though some are praising actress Alicia Vikander more for her role as a mysterious robot in Ex Machina, when the Oscar nominations were announced the movie she was nominated for was The Danish Girl, in which she plays a woman in a relationship with transgender pioneer Lili Elbe (portrayed by Eddie Redmayne). She talks about how much she wanted the role, working with an established partnership in Redmayne and director Tom Holland, and how dedicated she was to authenticity.
