Though Adam Driver had been appearing on television and film since his first screen credit on the short-lived 2009 ABC series The Unusuals, he gained his first notoriety, critical acclaim, and major award consideration (including three Emmy Award nominations) for his performance on the HBO series Girls as Adam Sackler. Since then Driver has become a major Star Wars villain and has received back-to-back Oscar nominations for his roles in BlackKklansman and Marriage Story.
For the most part, it was his role on Girls that set his current successes in motion. In the above video from Driver’s screen test for the series, even though it’s just under a minute long, you can easily see how comfortable Driver feels as the character in front of the camera.
